We caught up with Ashley and asked her a few questions about her fabulous paper goods shoppe and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here’s what she said:
- Tell us a little bit about your shoppe. When I started my shoppe, my main focus was on invitation design and business cards. I worked on a lot of paper good products and started to really enjoy stationery designs. Then I saw what a huge market there was for customized gifts. I’ve added t-shirt designs, mugs, speakers, iPhone cases, iPad cases and a few other customizable gifts to my shoppe recently. They are a lot of fun to work with!
- What is your favorite product in your shoppe and why? I think my current favorite product in my shop is my Keep Calm and Rock On doodle speaker! I use mine all the time and I’m still blown away by the quality of sound that little guy is capable of putting out, not to mention how darn cute it looks sitting on my desk!
- When you’re not designing products for your shoppe, what are your hobbies? I’m one of those work-a-holics. When I’m not designing (like right this minute) I’m usually contemplating what I SHOULD be designing. It’s not uncommon to find me attached to a my sketch pad, doodling up new designs and ideas. If I have actually managed to win the battle against myself and have taken a complete break, I’m probably in my kitchen, 6 feet deep in flour, baking up a batch of cupcakes. If it’s the weekend I could possibly be found at a rodeo cheering on my boyfriend or spending some quality time with friends and/or family.
- What do you like best about The Artisan Group? If you had asked me that the day I was invited, I would have said the general idea behind the group. What an amazing opportunity it is for myself and other artists to get our work out there and seen. Who’s going to overlook the fact that our products were not only checked out but actually went home with celebrities? Now that seems like an afterthought to me. What I like best about TAG is that each day we get to connect with an artist from a different place, with a different perspective, and we get to share our stories, our trials, and our triumphs. We get to support each other, help each other and stand by each other. The other day someone asked me if I felt like I was in competition with any of the other members who sell stationery or invitations and the answer was easy, I didn’t even have to think about it. It’s just a simple NO. We all have so much to offer, a variety and we each have our own personality that shines through our work. I love that their is no competition because we all want the same thing. We want each other to shine!

She’s really selling those speakers! I’m truly convinced that my music life won’t be complete without one… but not with just any design! It must be from Fancy Designs (peacock feathers)!
PS- Ashley, if you’re reading this, I totally spot a Clover Stone Designs bracelet! ::points::
