We caught up with Natalie and asked her a few questions about her unique shoppe and her experiences so far working with TAG. Here’s what she said:
- Tell us a little bit about your shoppe.
I mainly create handmade books (journals, notebooks, photo albums) from upcycled materials such as vinyl records, paint chips, wrapping paper and maps, and I’ve also recently started making coasters from vinyl records. I currently only sell LP journals and notebooks in my shoppe while I am testing out the other products at local craft fairs and shops.
- What is your favorite product in your shoppe and why?
Wow, it’s so hard to choose. The Andy Gibb LP notebook is probably my favourite at the moment – it simply brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. The Duran Duran LP notebook would be a close second… because who doesn’t love Duran Duran? I also enjoy doing custom work for clients, such as wedding albums and corporate products. I love the creativity and challenge of making something completely unique that a client will adore.
- When you’re not designing products for your shoppe, what are your hobbies?
Making books has really consumed most of my free time this past year. However, I am a voracious reader and try to sneak in a few minutes of reading whenever I can. I also enjoy making and appreciating art, learning new languages, visiting museums and travelling. I’m very excited about an upcoming trip to Italy where I’ll get to indulge in all these passions at once (I’m taking part in an art retreat and will learn to paint) – I hop on a plane next week!
- What do you like best about The Artisan Group?
The support provided by The Artisan Group has been amazing. They continuously guide us and provide wonderful tips and advice as we prepare for upcoming events and promote our businesses. The other Artisan Group members have also been wonderful – it’s great to be part of a network of other like-minded, creative individuals. So often, the act of creating can be a solitary and sometimes lonely venture. Having my own cheerleading squad with whom I can run ideas by, ask advice from, and celebrate with is very reassuring. They are a very inspiring bunch.
